Discipline In The Right Areas

Whilst coaching a large group of business entrepreneurs the other day, I had my own form of realization.
This realization, or even reminder, was about the importance of discipline when building a business.
Jocko Willink frequently shares his perspective that discipline = freedom.
I think in the past, I have struggled to wrap my head around this concept fully.
Discipline, the art of training oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way, can truly change everything about your life.
We have to have the resilience, the patience, the tenacity, to stick with whatever challenges we may have.
We have to demonstrate discipline in the right areas of your business and life.
The marshmallow test teaches us how to appreciate delayed gratification, but it also shows the importance of discipline and doing the right thing consistently.
If you are building an online coaching business, you have to have the discipline to show up daily. Whether that is to create content, initiate conversations or to make offers, discipline is important.
If you are trying to lose weight, you have to have discipline to stay in a calorie deficit, weight lift 3-4 times a week and prioritize regular movement. You control all of this.
Discipline becomes the foundation of everything that we do, because if we cannot have the discipline to follow through on the goals and actions we set, any other shiny new objects won’t help you in achieving your goal.
Discipline, not only equals freedom, but it also puts you in a position to win.
I am not perfect here one bit and I have a long way to go, but the realization and awareness of the importance of discipline, specifically in the actions I try to avoid, reminds me that these challenges are actually the path I have to take to progress.
Take the time to sit and think about what actions or tasks you need to stay disciplined in and stick with, because you may also be dropping the ball and not even know about it.
The obstacle is the way, and discipline, resilience and consistency will be key to your success.
Hope this helps today.
Much love team.
