Stop Saying Yes.

Stop Saying Yes.

A recurring theme for both myself and those that I work with is boundaries and self-care.

It is something I believe everyone needs to work on consistently.

This was reminded for me recently from the book, Essentialism by Greg McKeown, who says :

‘Only once you give yourself permission to stop trying to do it all, to stop saying yes to everyone, can you make your highest contribution towards the things that really matter.’

You see, if you are anything like me, you consciously make an effort to help and to serve those around you.

This trait can easily lead towards one of putting others before yourself.

His quote above, is a reminder to me that you cannot pour from an empty cup.

We must say no when we need too, we must take time to prioritise our physical and mental wellbeing.

  • By doing so, we can then have the impact we would like to have.

  • By saying no, we can prioritize ourselves and live up to our own potential.

  • By giving ourselves permission to be selfish, we can truly help those around us.

So today, take the time to do something for yourself.

Read, do some exercise, sit with a journal, go for a walk or take the afternoon off work.

Do this, and the rest will follow.

Here for a better you.
